Randi and Sagan

This drawing began as a reflection of my admiration of modern rationalists that i enjoy reading and following on YouTube. It began with an idea of Christopher Hitchens walking through the park smoking and drinking, how else. His path led back the Mark Twain home located in Hartford, CT. This home is ironically given an air of divinity perched on a mountain hovering over the gates of hell, using Dante's quote and Gellers bent spoon to welcome the true believers. But the tone of the drawing became to have an antagonistic tone with the placement of Hitch at the foreground, I chose then to erase the dominant figure that seemed out of place and placed the more endearing Carl Sagan in the back in an embrace with wife Ann Druyan, in front i wanted a mystical figure walking the same path of enlightenment as Ann and Carl but could not picture Hitchens as the mystical type so instead produced a likeness of James Randi, a close friend of Sagan, to eclipse Ann...Randi tends not to be too quiet in the videos I see of him, but he mystifies audiences still...however on reflection I find it unfair that Ann's character be pushed back into the back, for this reason I added an older Ann Druyan where Hitchens once stood, though Carl is absent she and his legacy continue with her and Randi...

Juan, I'm very flattered. I still miss Carl, and always will...
